Looking for perfect beaches, crystal clear water, and a vacation of a lifetime? Can I get a hell yeah? Well then, forget Florida; the Maldives is the place to head to. It may be a longer flight, but I can pretty much guarantee it’ll be worth your effort.

This tropical paradise offers crystal clear waters where you can see to the bottom, a white sandy beach, and so many luxurious accommodation choices at an affordable price. While, of course, you can always get the $5,000-$10,000 extravagant version of this vacation, I’m here to tell you about a slightly different version that most of us can afford.

I’m here to show you a way to get hotels on the water with everything you need for as little as … $1,200 a month. So, whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a girls’ trip, or a family-friendly vacation, a Maldives travel package is perfect for you. Before deciding on your travel package, first, I’ll discuss why the Maldives are a fantastic choice, then, I’ll show you how to choose the best Maldives travel package and what to look for when deciding.

Why Choose Maldives for Your Next Vacation?

Over the last decade, the Maldives has become an accessible and popular travel destination. It’s a beautiful and unique place that offers a luxurious and relaxing experience upon arrival. Its white sandy beaches, clean waters, and stunning coral reefs make the Maldives a paradise for beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts alike. Depending on your preferences, you can go scuba diving or snorkeling, or you can simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun. While the Maldives is also known for its luxurious 5-Star overwater villas and private beaches, there are so many other options.

When Not to Choose the Maldives

Just a quick heads up: when you book your hotel, and you know you like to have a few sippy sips on your vacation, ask whether or not alcohol is available there. The Maldives islands are “technically” dry. So, depending on the specific hotels or excursions you choose, the rules may be a bit different. The water sports, sun, and views are what make these islands so amazing, but if having a few beverages is an important part of your trip, definitely ask the question to ensure you aren’t disappointed once you arrive.

Fun Things to Do in Maldives

The Maldives islands are paradise on Earth. From water sports to island hopping, there are plenty of things to keep you busy. One of the most popular activities in the Maldives travel package is scuba diving. The diverse marine life, including ginormous whale sharks and colorful fish that paddle through the brilliant coral reef, is worth checking out.

The Maldives travel package offers some of the best snorkeling and dive spots in the world that will not disappoint.  Each island is different, though, so do your research ahead of time.  Some of the islands have larger waves where you can surf, other islands offer diving with whale sharks, and others are perfect for snorkeling and working on your tan.

Fun Things to Do in Maldives

If you’re not quite comfortable with diving, you should, at minimum, try snorkeling while you are there! The colors of the coral and the fish are out of this world! Even floating on top of the water, you can easily discover new species of fish and underwater flora. Jet skiing, parasailing, and windsurfing are also popular choices for adrenaline junkies, and here they don’t cost a fortune.

Luckily, in the Maldives, you can find almost every water sport known to man, and to make sure you hit them all, it is super simple to travel from island to island by sea (water taxi) or by air (seaplane). Just think about what you would like to do on your island adventure, and you won’t have a problem finding exactly what you’re seeking.

What to Look for in a Maldives Travel Package?

To make your life easier, you may want to opt for a travel package. When you choose a Maldives travel package, there are several things to consider. First and foremost, you’ll want to make sure that the package includes all the facilities that you need, such as accommodation, flights, meals, and activities, if you don’t want to plan each separately.

You’ll also want to consider the package’s price and any additional fees or taxes that may apply. It’s important to carefully read the reviews and do research on the resort to ensure that it meets your expectations and is a good value for your money. I find checking several sites for reviews on a particular property can be eye-opening! So do your due diligence and ensure you are going to get what you’re paying for. You also wouldn’t want to forget your underwater photo package to get all your super cool selfies while you’re there!

Top Maldives Travel Packages

Now that you’ve decided that the Maldives is the place for you let’s talk about the Maldives travel packages. There are many travel packages to the Maldives to choose from, but some stand out above the rest. Here are a few examples of Maldives travel packages that could help you along the way. Whether it’s a Solo trip, an All-Inclusive Package, a Honeymoon Package, or a Family Package, you can find one that could meet your needs.

To demonstrate the way I would normally go about this, I would start by looking for the overall package price from my current location (the all-inclusive with airfare). Many times, this is not your cheapest option, but at least you have a baseline. Many people quit at this point, thinking they can’t get there because it costs too much, but that’s where they are wrong. It’s taking it a few steps further that can get you to the vacation of your dreams. I initially plugged into Expedia, an all-inclusive Maldives package from Miami. The cost is high at around $2,700 per person.

This would make most of us stop in our tracks, but if you find the major international airport that flies directly into the Maldives, you’ll find that Dubai or Abu Dhabi are good choices. Here, the round-trip airfare that is included is from Dubai, and now your per-person all-inclusive cost drops to $879 per person.

Now, all you have to do is find a round-trip flight to and from your initial location, which is generally much cheaper if you look at major cities on the East Coast of the US, which you can get for around $600 if your dates align. I’d say a $1,400 vacation is much better than a $2,700 vacation, and that took about 30 minutes of research. The other option is to open another credit card where the points you earn help you to acquire the flight or the hotel for free or both while you’re at it.

To receive the best possible deal on your Maldives vacation, you will need to play with the dates, locations of departure, stop-overs, and credit cards that will help you win the vacation of a lifetime game.

Best Tips Before Booking a Maldives Travel Package

When you book a Maldives travel package, it’s important to do your research and follow some key tips to ensure that you get the best deal and have a stress-free vacation. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

★ Book early to get the best deals and availability.

★ Be flexible with your travel dates to take advantage of off-season pricing.

★ Compare multiple packages and resorts to find the one that’s right for you.

★ Check the fine print for any hidden fees or restrictions.

★ Consider customizing your package to include additional activities or amenities that suit your preferences.

★ Choose a flight option where it takes you quite a bit longer to get there. You may have a 12-20 hour layover in a location where you can get a cheap room or see a few local sites in that location before heading to your final destination.

Transportation: Getting Around in Maldives

Before you can relax on the beach, you need to figure out how to get around this island nation. Fortunately, there are several options available for transportation in the Maldives.

For starters, many hotels and resorts offer shuttle services from the airport to your accommodations. Check with the hotel to determine if the shuttle service is included or how much it would take to arrange transportation if it’s not included in the rate already.

The alternative would be to check on Viator for transfers. I do not recommend using a local taxi from the airport as they tend to add on the “US or Foreigner Tax” so to speak. Recently, I tried this method, and I was charged 3x what a local would have been charged. So, always check with your Airbnb or hotel to get a baseline cost and then price it out in the market to see which deal is the best.

One popular way to travel from island to island is by seaplane. These small planes offer stunning views of crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs from above. For those who prefer a more leisurely mode of transportation, speedboats are also available for about half the price (approx. $55 USD from Male to the north atolls. These boats provide a scenic way to explore the islands at your own pace and allow you to soak up all that the Maldives travel package has to offer along the way.

Travel Safety & Security

Travel safety and security generally fall into the highest level of concern for most travelers. This is especially true when traveling to exotic destinations like the Maldives. Fortunately, many travel companies offer Maldives travel packages that prioritize the safety and security of their customers. If you’re planning a trip to the Maldives, look for a tour package that includes airport pick-up and drop-off services. This will ensure that you have reliable transportation in a foreign country and minimize the risk of encountering any unsavory characters along the way.

Additionally, consider booking accommodations at resorts with 24-hour security services and secure access points. Check out this article for a variety of safety tips. Another aspect of staying safe while traveling is being aware of your surroundings. When exploring new areas or participating in activities outside of your resort, be sure to check where you’re going and stick to well-lit areas with other people nearby.
