Expert-Packing-Tips

You’re finally going on that dream vacation you’ve been planning for months. But before you can even think about packing your bags, you need to make a packing list. But what do you pack? What are the essentials? In this post, we’ll give you 5 expert packing tips and the perfect addition to your luggage to help keep you organized and ready for your trip!

Expert Packing Tips: Make a Packing List—and Then Cut It in Half

It’s all too easy to go overboard when it comes to packing for a trip. Overnight bag? Check. Duffel for the gym? Check. Carry-on suitcase? Check. But before you know it, you’ve packed so much stuff that you can barely close your suitcase. The key to packing successfully is to make a list—and then cut it in half. Start by brainstorming everything you might need on your trip, from clothes to toiletries to electronics.

Once you have a comprehensive list, go through and cross off anything that’s unnecessary or that you could easily buy once you’re there. Remember, the less you pack, the less you have to carry—and the less chance you’ll have of losing or forgetting anything while on your trip.  Placing all of your important documents and electronics in this carry-on by Grams28 will help keep you organized.  For me, my bird Slipp also gets a front pocket, so he never falls out.  So, to ensure you are good for your next trip, follow my 5 expert packing tips.

Destination and Duration: Don’t Get Caught Off Guard by Crazy Weather!

Alright, ladies, before you start packing your fabulous outfits, it’s time to get real about the climate and activities at your destination. Because trust me, you don’t want to be freezing your booty off or sweating like a marathon runner in the Sahara. This way, you’ll know exactly what kind of clothing to pack and avoid any fashion disasters. No one wants to be the girl with frozen toes or a sweat-stained shirt, am I right?

Travel Itinerary: Dress to Impress Every Step of the Way!

Okay, girlfriends, it’s time to review that travel itinerary of yours and get the lowdown on the activities and events you’ll be participating in. Whether it’s a fancy dinner, a hike up a mountain, or a night out hitting the town, you better pack the right attire and accessories for each occasion. So pay attention to your itinerary and plan your outfits accordingly.

Clothing: Mix and Match Like a Fashion Queen!

Break down your clothing needs based on the number of days you’ll be away. But here’s the key: think versatile. Ain’t nobody got time for lugging around a suitcase full of outfits that only match one specific occasion. Nope, we’re all about the mix and match game here. Pack pieces that can be combined in different ways, creating killer outfits for any situation that comes your way. So go ahead, pack those leggings that can be dressed up or down, that cute top that goes with everything, and those shoes that can take you from daytime exploring to nighttime dancing like a magic wand.

Check and Revise: Don’t Forget a Single, Damn Thing!

We can’t leave anything to chance here – you’ve got to make sure you haven’t missed a single, damn thing! Consider your daily routine, think about any unique requirements for your trip, and make sure your packing list is as badass as you are. No room for forgotten essentials on this journey, my friends!

Pack Smart—and Light

Pack smart and only take what you need! Traveling with a heavy bag is the worst, so try to think about what you can leave behind. Do what you can to only bring a carry-on suitcase, and try to follow our expert packing tips. If you end up overweight or have to pay to check the bag, the fees will really begin to add up.  Take a look and think of each of these steps as you begin to pack. here are some expert packing tips:

  • Limit yourself to one pair of shoes and one pair of sandals. Shoes that are versatile that you can wear to work out/go hiking and sandals that look great with your day wear or on a night out is ideal.
  • Pack items that can be used for multiple purposes (e.g. a scarf that can be worn as a shawl, belt, summer dress, or headscarf).
  • If you can’t live without something, consider packing a smaller version of it. For example, pack a small bottle of shampoo instead of bringing the full-sized one. You can always buy more when you arrive at your location.
  • Roll, Don’t Fold. One of the best ways to save space in your luggage is to roll your clothes instead of folding them. This will help them take up less room and help to prevent wrinkles from forming in your clothes.
  • Use packing cubes and the Grams28 bag like I’m showing below to carry all of your important goodies. I fit all of my electronic accessories and important documents into the Grams28 bag, and you can either use the strap to carry it separately into the cabin to fit easily under the seat or place it inside my carry-on and have my must haves nicely organized. The Grams28 bag is made from beautiful, soft Italian leather that will keep your passport and electronics dry and organized. It’s large enough to fit an iPad or compact camera and has a lifetime warranty to boot.

Packing shoes efficiently

Shoes in the Corners, Baby!

Don’t let that corner space in your suitcase go to waste – put those shoes in there like the boss lady you are! And here’s the pro tip: position your shoes with the soles facing outward and the heels towards the corners. This not only saves space, but it also creates a freaking stable base for all your other items.

Pair and Stack Those Kicks!

Now, here’s the way to make your shoe game even stronger – pair ’em up and stack ’em high! Not only does this save you space, but it also helps to maintain the shape of those precious kicks during transit. Say goodbye to squished and misshapen shoes, and hello to a killer shoe game wherever you go!

Shoe Bags and Shower Caps: The MVPs of Shoe Packing

Consider using shoe bags or shower caps to encase your shoes like they’re priceless artifacts. Not only does this prevent those dirty soles from getting all over your carefully packed clothes, but it also contains any dirt or debris from your travels.

Small Stuffin’ to Optimize Space

Stuff those shoes with small items such as socks, underwear, or accessories to help them maintain their shape and save some extra space. It’s like getting a two-for-one special on packing – efficient and genius!

Versatile Shoes for Boss Ladies

And last but not least, the ultimate hack for your shoe-packing game – choose versatile shoes that can be rocked with multiple outfits. Not only does this save you from packing multiple shoes, but it also saves you from those shoes you never wear while on your adventures.

Grab the Perfect Bag

I’ve personally had the struggle of finding the perfect carry-on. I’ve tried all kinds of purses and small bags to carry my electronics and accessories, and I think I’ve finally found the right one! Keeping the important items that I need to reach quickly and never misplace is a necessary step to making my travels run smoothly.  This new carry-on is small enough to be easy to carry yet spacious enough to hold all of my essentials.

Expert-Packing-Tips

Invest in Multipurpose Clothing and Accessories

When it comes to packing for your next big trip, the key is to think smart and invest in multipurpose clothing and accessories. By doing this, you’ll save space in your bag and reduce the amount of laundry you have to do when you get home.

Here are a few examples:

  • A scarf can be used as a shawl, a blanket, or a cover-up at the beach.
  • A tank top can be worn as a dress, a skirt, or a swimsuit cover-up.
  • Leggings can be worn as pants, pajamas, or even as a swimsuit cover-up.
  • A belt can be used to hold up pants or skirts or as a makeshift holster for your passport and money.

Utilize Empty Spaces

Let’s talk about those empty spaces in your suitcase – we can’t let them go to waste now, can we? So listen closely and get ready to utilize every single inch of space in that bad boy.

Roll Like a Pro!

Rolling your clothes not only saves space, but it also allows you to fill gaps or spaces between bulkier items. It’s like creating a Tetris masterpiece in your suitcase, my friends. And hey, rolled clothes are flexible – you can contour those bad boys to fit any area within your suitcase. Who needs square-shaped clothes anyway? Not you!

Empty Spaces: The Hidden Gems!

As you pack your stuff, keep those eagle eyes open for any gaps or empty spaces within your suitcase. They’re like hidden gems waiting to be discovered! Look around the areas around your shoes, between layers of clothing, or even in the forgotten corners of your suitcase. Those empty spaces are just begging to be filled.

Corner Spaces

These poor corners are often underutilized, begging to be given a purpose in life. Well, my friends, it’s time to shine the spotlight on them. Fit smaller items or accessories into those corners on a mission to make sure not a single space goes to waste.

Nest It Up!

Here’s a genius move to save that precious space – nest smaller items within larger ones. For example, take those rolled socks or accessories and nestle them inside a pair of shoes or tuck them into the gaps between larger items. It’s a space-saving strategy that’ll save you space.

Small Bags, Big Vibe!

Slide those bags into any available nook or cranny within your suitcase, making use of every inch of space. These small bags are your secret weapon in the fight against chaos and anarchy in your suitcase.

Strategic Accessory Placement!

Why waste precious space by packing your accessories separately? We’re all about being strategic here. Instead of going down that boring route, strategically place your accessories in the spaces between clothing items. It’s like playing a fashionable game of Tetris, but with scarves, belts, and jewelry. Not only will you save space, but you’ll also prevent your accessories from getting all tangled up and unruly.

Compression Bags: Air-Sucking Heroes!

Now, for those of you packing bulkier clothing or jackets, pay attention. We’ve got a secret weapon for you – compression bags. These bad boys are designed to remove excess air and compress your clothing, creating even more space in your suitcase.

Layer it Up, Pack it in!

Layering items in your suitcase is not just for cake, my friends – it’s a packing strategy! Place flatter items like shirts or blouses between bulkier ones to create a smooth, organized packing arrangement. It’s like creating a perfectly balanced packing sandwich, one layer at a time.

Remember: Balance is Key!

Be mindful of the weight distribution within your suitcase. Place those heavier items closer to the wheels to maintain balance and prevent your suitcase from toppling over like a drunk party-goer. We want you to strut through the airport with confidence, not trip over a wobbly suitcase.

Limit Gadgets and Chargers

Now, I know you love your gadgets and gizmos, but let’s be real here – do you really need to bring every electronic device you own? I think not! So, let’s evaluate and declutter those electronic necessities, shall we?

Cut the Clutter: Only Bring What You’ll Use!

Before you start tossing gadgets into your suitcase, take a moment to ask yourself: “Will I actually use this?” Seriously, there’s no point in bringing items that will just sit there and collect dust. Say goodbye to those unnecessary gadgets and hello to a lighter, more efficient packing list.

Versatile Devices: The Unsung Heroes of Travel!

Instead of packing a separate e-reader, GPS device, and camera, why not opt for a smartphone or tablet that can do it all? These magical devices can replace the need for multiple gadgets, saving precious space in your suitcase.

Chargers: Cut the Duplication!

Now, let’s talk about chargers. We all know they’re essential for keeping our gadgets alive and kicking. But do you really need to bring a separate charger for every single device? Come on, ladies, let’s be smart about this! Pack chargers only for the devices you’ll actually be using. And unless you have a good reason, avoid duplicating chargers for similar devices. You’ll be surprised how many modern gadgets share the same charging cables.

Multi-Port USB Chargers: Space-Saving Power Wizards!

Photo black portable usb hub for four connections

Why waste precious space in your suitcase by packing individual chargers for each device? Ain’t nobody got time for that! Instead, equip yourself with a multi-port USB charger. This little gem allows you to charge multiple devices at once using a single outlet. I know, mind-blowing, right?

Portable Chargers and Power Banks: The On-the-Go Saviors!

Portable chargers and power banks are here to save the day! These nifty devices provide extra charges for your electronics without needing a wall socket. You can explore the world without worrying about running out of battery.

Voltage and Plug Adapters: Conquering International Travel!

For those of you taking on international adventures, voltage requirements and plug adapters are your new best friends. Do your homework, my globetrotting ladies, and make sure your devices are compatible with the voltage of your destination. And don’t forget the plug adapters – they’re like the gatekeepers to power and connectivity. By staying on top of these details, you’ll avoid the need to pack multiple chargers and converters.

Conclusion

You’re finally taking that dream trip you’ve been planning for months (or maybe even years). Congratulations! But before you go, make sure to put these packing tips to use to help make your journey a little less stressful, and grab a bag from Grams28 to keep you organized.
