Every time I get ready to book a portion of my trip, I research like crazy and cross my t’s and dot my i’s. The resources below the main go-to’s I use to travel for days, weeks, and a year at a time.
Planning Tools
I use this site as an overall planning tool to determine potential routes, modes of transportation, and travel times. It’s great to be able to see the big picture, then I can move to alternative sites to book each piece. It comes in very handy when it comes to identifying train routes!
Flights
Once I have an idea of where I’m going and the possible routes to get to my location, I pop on over to SkyScanner to price out my flights.
Hotel
Then of course, I move onto booking my hotel. For anything longer than 3 days, it normally makes good sense to move towards the AirBnB route for me. When the timelines are shorter, the cleaning fee does add up, so I always have to pay close attention.
Train
If I need to head out by train instead of a flight, I will bounce over to Trainline to find my tickets. In several circumstances I did better deals directly at the train station, but the online platform at least allows me to book in advance.
Guide
When it gets time to pick a tour, my go-to’s include Viator or Get Your Guide. I’ve had amazing luck grabbing tours around the world that were for a few hours or a few days.
Phone Service
Staying connected for me is a must. While I have an international travel plan having a local phone plan in every country is recommended! While you can drop by the individual stores in the airport or somewhere in the city upon arrival, grabbing an e-sim is one of easiest ways to go about it. An e-sim can keep you connected upon landing in your next destination without the hassle of searching for a vendor. Holafly has kept me connected around the world.
